1. VIP
· Tanks
need maintenance
· Is your tank corroded around the valve stem?
Colored
powdery substance - white, greenish or reddish-brown around
the threads means the different metals (a brass valve on an
aluminum or steel tank) are attacking each other. Salt buildup
accelerates corrosion.
· Open the valve slightly and smell the air. Any powder
coming out or bad smells means your tank should be immediately
visually inspected and cleaned. Don't drain the air completely
out of your tank as moisture and salt can enter when the valve
is open.
· Look at the O-ring seat for cracks and distortion. Inspect the O-ring itself for tiny nicks and replace
it. Be certain the valve turns easily and true and
is not bent.
· Annual
inspections are mandatory. In order for your tank to be
filled this test must be current. Tanks filled frequently
in salt air and tanks that discolor the sintered filter in
the regulator first stage should be visually inspected more
often.

hydro inspection is required every five years.
