Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
Learn how to provide vital first aid for a

Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
This advanced-level program
teaches you how to use a bag-valve mask and a flow-restricted oxygen-powered ventillator

First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries
While serious marine life injuries are rare,
divers occasionally experience minor discomfort from unintentional contact with fire coral,
jellyfish and other marine creates. You'll learn how to minimize these injuries and reduce
discomfort and pain. [Qualifies for a PADI Distinctive Specialty certification] $75

Automated External Defibrillators for Scuba Diving
Many dive fatalities are actually
caused by cardiovascular disease. This course teaches you how to provide care for sudden
cardiac arrest. [Qualifies for a PADI Distinctive Specialty certification] $75 including materials.
On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers
You'll learn how to conduct a neurological
assessment on a potentially injured diver. This information can help convince a diver of
the need for oxygen first aid and help a dive physician determine proper treatment. $75
including materials.
Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals
Learn how to do it like the pros. Since diving
often takes place in remote locations, more advanced care may be needed. BLSPro teaches
you how to provide basic life support at the healthcare-provider level. $250 including
materials.
Diving Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) Program
DEMP integrates Oxygen
First Aid, Advanced Oxygen, Hazardous Marine Life injuries and AED for Scuba into a
single course. Unnecessary repitition is eliminated so more time can be spent on skill
development and scenario practice. [You can earn three PADI Distinctive Specialty ratings

Diving Medicine for Divers
Basic first aid techniques not enough? Still have questions?
Dive Medicine is for you. This modular course includes sections on Dive Fitness, Safety
Planning and basic physical exams. Dive Medicine requires DEMP & On-Site Neuro,
which can be integrated as part of the course. $400 (including DEMP & On-site Neuro).
$100 (if you've already completed DEMP & Neuro)
Instructor Qualification Course
To become a DAN Instructor, you must complete the
Instructor Qualification Course (IQC). This program is open to dive leaders (Divemaster
or higher) that are also CPR/First Aid Instructors.
Dive Emergency Specialist (DES)
To recognize divers that are committed to dive safety,
DAN has created the DES recognition program. To earn this recognition, you must hold a
current certification in Oxygen First Aid plus three other DAN training programs, a current
cpr/first aid certification and a rescue-level certification. [There is an application fee paid
to DAN.]
Schedules
DAN classes are taught on a rotational basis. Most classes only take a few hours when
either independent or online study is completed before the class. Dive Medicine for
Divers, including DEMP and Neuro, typically takes 12-16 hours and can be taught over
a weekend. Please see Dive Utah for upcoming classes. However any can be taught on a
semi-private basis at any time.
