Advanced Class or Ice Dive?

So the football season is over and you are sitting around over the weekend thinking about what to do. I have the perfect answer for you whether you like it hot or cold! Next weekend, Dive Utah will go extreme! We have extreme warm with an Advanced Open Water class at the Crater and we have extreme cold with an ice dive at Scofield Reservoir. IDC and Ice Dives!

Well it is official, Dive Utah has been approved as a PADI Instructor Development Center! We are now your 1 stop shop for certifications from Open Water all the way to Instructor! We are excited to add Jon Rusho to our staff as our Course Director. We started our first IDC last weekend as Cortney, one of our Divemasters decided to take the plunge. Ice Dive!!

It's that time of year again, break out the trusty drysuit, find a frozen lake, cut a hole in the ice and jump on in!! This is a yearly Dive Utah tradition. This year we are headed to Scofield Reservoir on March 6. You will need to be PADI Advanced Open Water and have some dry suit experience. Read more about Ice Dive!!

Ice Dive = Nice Dive?

Ever winter we gear up for a day or two of diving under the ice. I'm always amazed at the looks we get when we mention ice diving. There are always those who ask an incredulous, "WHY?" But there are others who are 100% as soon as they hear about it. I think it is one of the best-"been there, done that" dives in the sport. Snowmobiling in Fish Lake?

Snowmobile Diving

I've written about the small commercial diving jobs we are called to do from time to time. Last January we got a call about recovering a snowmobile that had fallen through the ice at Fish Lake. Fish Lake is located about three hours south of Salt Lake near Richfield, just about right in the center of Utah. It is a very pretty area at a high elevation, about 9000 feet. Ice is Nice

Ice Diving

I've got a great local dive for you. The air temperature is in the mid 40's (which isn't bad considering it's mid-February), there's not a cloud in the sky and visibility is 30-40 feet. Oh, did I mention it's under a foot of ice? Read more about Ice is Nice
